Open Evening 2021

Dear Year 6 Parents and Carers

It probably does not seem long ago that you made the very important decision of choosing your child’s first school.  You will now be considering the next stage of this journey.  In Southend you are lucky enough to be faced with a very wide choice of possibilities.

It is essential that you make the right decision for your child and to help you with this we are pleased to invite you to our Open Evening on Thursday 23 September 2021, 6.00pm – 8.30pm.

The evening has been carefully designed to allow you to discover the ethos of our school and to see our distinct qualities recognised by Ofsted who graded us a good school with outstanding features.  You will have the opportunity to tour our school, to speak with students and staff and to hear a short presentation from our Headteacher.  So that we can accommodate everyone who is interested, the Headteacher’s presentation will run twice.

The first presentation will be held at 6:15pm for parents and carers of pupils from: Thorpedene, Greenways, St George’s and any other school not mentioned in the second presentation.
The second presentation will be at 7:00pm for parents and carers of pupils from: Friars, Hinguar, Richmond and Bournes Green.

During the evening you will see that we provide a high quality educational experience that supports, extends and challenges all students, irrespective of their ability, background or personality.  Children are at the centre of all we do.  We are sure that, after the evening, you will agree that you have seen a first class learning community that provides a caring and supportive environment designed to encourage your son or daughter to achieve their best.

To reduce congestion, we have designed a route that will enable you to flow through the school and experience the full range of activities we have on offer. Depending on your starting point, could you please make your way around the school through each zone (for example, if you start at Zone 2, would you please then move to Zone 3, then Zone 4 and finally Zone 1).

Capacity in rooms will be restricted and whilst masks are no longer a requirement, we follow government guidance which says it "expects and recommends" the continued wearing of masks in crowded areas.

Our mornings tours that were to take place on Tuesday 28 September and Wednesday 29 are to be rescheduled. We will update our website with the new arrangements.
