Shoeburyness High School is justifiably proud of its students’ excellent attendance rate. The school’s attendance has increased for the last 6 years in succession and now stands at 96.1% the highest performing non-selective school in the Borough as well as significantly above national average.
At Shoeburyness High School our students are encouraged to achieve to the best of their ability and a key part of this is excellent attendance to enable this potential to be realised. Students who are in school can learn and can take advantage of the opportunities provided by the school. Our target for individual students attendance is 96%.
Days off school add up to lost learning. We want all students to achieve high levels of attendance and give themselves the very best life chances and choices. 90% attendance may look impressive but it means they miss 19 days of education in a year and risk dropping one grade in their final qualifications. The table below shows the impact of missing school.
